Refrigerator Repair
Done Right.
Not cooling, leaking, or making a racket? Chad catches it before your food pays the price. Chad gives you a straight diagnosis and an honest price before he starts.
Your refrigerator is the appliance that never gets a day off. It runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in a Texas kitchen that fights it the whole way. When it starts struggling, it usually shows you signs before it quits entirely — and catching those signs early is the difference between a service call and replacing $300 worth of spoiled food plus the appliance.
Common Symptoms
Not cooling or cooling unevenly. If the freezer is fine but the fridge section is warm, or vice versa, you likely have a problem with the evaporator fan, a refrigerant issue, or a failed damper control. If neither section is cooling, the compressor or start relay may have failed.
Running constantly. A refrigerator should cycle on and off. If the compressor runs all the time, it's working too hard — usually because of dirty condenser coils, a failing door gasket letting warm air in, or a refrigerant leak.
Making unusual noises. A clicking that's followed by silence is often the compressor overload protector tripping. A loud buzzing or rattling from the back is typically the condenser fan. Gurgling or dripping sounds from inside are usually normal refrigerant flow — though a hissing or bubbling noise is not.
Leaking water. Water pooling under the fridge or inside the bottom of the fresh-food compartment is typically a frozen or clogged defrost drain. Water pooling at the door is a door gasket issue.
Ice maker not working. Could be the water inlet valve, the ice maker module, a frozen fill tube, or a water supply issue. We'll trace it.
Maintenance Tips
Clean the condenser coils once a year — they're on the back panel or behind the bottom kick plate and they collect dust that forces the compressor to work harder. In a dusty Texas home, once a year is the minimum.
Check door gaskets by closing the door on a dollar bill — you should feel firm resistance when you pull it out. A loose seal lets warm, humid Brazos Valley air into the cabinet constantly.
Keep the fridge reasonably full. A nearly empty refrigerator loses its cold temperature faster every time the door opens. If you're light on groceries, keep a few pitchers of water in there.
Set the temperature correctly: fresh food compartment at 37°F, freezer at 0°F. Too cold and the compressor overworks; too warm and food safety becomes a concern.
Signs It's Near the End of the Trail
The compressor is making a loud clicking noise and the fridge isn't cooling. If the compressor is seized or the start components have failed, repair may cost as much as replacement — especially on units over 12 years old.
You're seeing significant frost buildup in the freezer that doesn't clear on its own (a sealed-system defrost failure), combined with a refrigerant leak. Refrigerant work requires certification, and a leak in an older unit is often a sign of corrosion.
The refrigerator is over 15 years old and has already had one major repair. At that age, you're paying to extend the life of an appliance on borrowed time.
We'll always give you an honest assessment. If repair doesn't make financial sense, we'll tell you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you charge for estimates?
For most repairs, we provide a diagnostic assessment and quote before any work begins. You'll know the cost upfront before we turn a wrench. There is a standard service call fee to come out and diagnose — that fee is applied toward your repair if you choose to proceed.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Bryan, College Station, and the surrounding Brazos Valley communities. If you're nearby and not sure whether we cover your area, give us a call at 979-402-1241 and we'll let you know.
What brands do you work on?
We work on all major appliance brands including Whirlpool, Maytag, GE, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Bosch, KitchenAid, Electrolux, Speed Queen, and more — both gas and electric, top-load and front-load. If you're not sure whether your brand or model is serviceable, just ask.
Do you offer same-day or emergency service?
We do our best to accommodate same-day appointments, especially for urgent situations like a refrigerator that's stopped cooling. Availability varies by day. Call 979-402-1241 and we'll let you know what we can do.
What's included in the maintenance plans?
Each maintenance plan includes an inspection and service visit for one or more appliances, depending on the plan tier. We check key components, clean critical areas (coils, filters, vents), run performance tests, and flag any early warning signs before they become expensive repairs. The Lil' Squatch Check covers one appliance; the Squatch Tune-Up covers two; Beast Mode covers your whole home. Replacement parts and labor for repairs found during the inspection are not included in the package pricing but will be quoted before any work proceeds.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, check, and most major credit and debit cards. Payment is due at the time of service.
Do you fix gas appliances, or only electric?
We work on both gas and electric appliances — ovens, ranges, dryers, and more. All gas work is performed to manufacturer specification. If a gas line connection or shutoff is involved beyond the appliance itself, we'll let you know and coordinate accordingly.
What should I do if my appliance is making a burning smell or sounds dangerous?
Stop using it immediately. Unplug it if it's electric, or turn off the gas supply valve if it's a gas appliance. A burning smell — especially plastic or electrical — can indicate a fire risk. Call us at 979-402-1241 and we'll prioritize getting someone out to you. Don't run the appliance again until it's been inspected.
